About Martial Arts

Welcome to Martial Arts Plus! By making the decision to train at this school, you’ve made a choice that will enhance your life and your child’s life in ways you’ve never imagined. Our meticulously organized curriculum is geared toward helping you develop and enhance the following benefits which, if practiced, you’ll be able to incorporate into the way you work and interact in the Dõjõ (Japanese for martial arts training hall, literally translated as the “place of the way”), as well as in your workplace, school and home.

Our program builds confidence and character by providing each student with control over his or her body and mind; this helps to develop the ability to stand up to peer pressure and other intimidating situations. Martial arts movements improve coordination and increase strength and flexibility.

At this Dõjõ, practical self-defense moves are stressed. The martial arts you learn at this school are based on original art forms which were developed in Okinawa at the time it was actually made for preservation of life. In addition, the instructors have been training, studying, and teaching martial arts in their finest forms for over 30 years.

Because health is very important to your life and self-defense, we emphasize holistic health practices and incorporate traditional Oriental holistic medical knowledge into our practice—each student is observed and given attention for their individual health needs.

The martial arts you learn here have a history of hundreds of years and the instruction is based on the ancient, tried and true Oriental principals of Yin and Yang. These principles teach balance in both movement and life. This is very applicable in today’s modern society to educate children and adults alike in life, as well as martial skills.

Finally, martial arts are fun and exciting for teenagers and adults alike! At Martial Arts Plus, you’ll obtain a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that’s rarely achieved by doing other sports. Not to mention, the training at this Dõjõ is good cross training for any other sport or activity. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to speak to our instructors. We believe very strongly in the value of our program for you and for people of all ages. Training at our Dõjõ, in particular, can benefit people for the rest of their lives.
